Head Coach Brian Flores addressed the media Monday. Here were some comments that stood out, along with some perspective:
"We come in, we make the corrections, we move on. We don't make excuses, we don't point fingers."
鈥 This is what Flores says he tells his players after the disappointment of the first two games of the 2019 season. Dolphins players pretty much said the same thing in the dressing room after the game against the New England Patriots on Sunday.
"We've got a good young nucleus who'll be here for a while. I like that group and I think they're coming together."
鈥 The Dolphins have a lot of good young players, and Flores is excited to see their continued improvement through this season and beyond.
"He's starting to get more comfortable with the NFL game. I think he's an ascending player."
鈥 Defensive tackle Christian Wilkins made some plays that caught the attention of Flores, but like everybody else on the team has some areas that need improvement. Overall, though, Wilkins continues to make progress in his rookie season.
"I'm very prepared for difficult moments. I've learned resiliency at a very early age. When you deal with tough times, you want to lean on the people that you trust and care about you and have your back."
鈥 Flores was taken back to his childhood by a reporter from the New York Times and said that while he didn't want to go through the hurdles he overcame as a child, he did admit it has helped him in his coaching career when it comes to dealing with setbacks.
