Top Quotes: Dolphins Return Home to Face a Familiar Foe

The Dolphins and Jets will face off Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium for the front end of the home-and-home series between these bitter rivals. It's the first time the Dolphins will see quarterback Aaron Rodgers as a member of Gang Green since he was traded to New York 18 months ago.

Here's what the players and coaches are saying ahead of the second-from-last home game of the 2024 season.

Facing Rodgers, Jets' Offense

Defensive Coordinator Anthony Weaver 鈥 "Future Hall of Famer. He's a stud. He's one of the few guys left in the league that I played with; him and Calais (Campbell), maybe Marcedes Lewis. He has all the arm talent in the world. He's a lot like (Matthew) Stafford, there isn't anything he hasn't seen. If you're not great with your pre-snap and disguise, he's going to figure it out."

Defensive Coordinator Anthony Weaver on if he ever sacked Rodgers: "I did not. I did miss a sack on him. He was just faster than me. I rushing off the edge, he bailed and gained ground on the edge and I lost the edge."

Head Coach Mike McDaniel on Rodgers' connection with WR Devante Adams 鈥 "It's all the working history that those two have, you can't replicate. Like it's hours upon hours. The big component in the pass game is getting open in the timing of the play because of pass rush. So those hyper split-second things that happen on every given down, you talk about a tenth of a second can be the difference if you know what someone's going to do and a completion explosive."

Defensive Tackle Zach Sieler 鈥 "They've got a lot of weapons. They've got a great quarterback. He's played a lot of ball. I think he's probably one of the only ones that has played more ball than Calais (Campbell). (laughter) So definitely got to make sure we get in our playbooks and get into film study and see what's coming at us."

The Team's Mindset Heading into December

Tight End Jonnu Smith 鈥 "One game at a time, one game at a time. We've still got life, very optimistic, a lot of warriors in our locker room, a lot of fighters in our locker room, proud to be a part of this team, 100 percent and we're going to continue to fight, continue to put our hard hats on and go to work."

Wide Receiver Jaylen Waddle - "We've got a tough opponent ahead in the Jets. So it's a work week. Back to work. We've got five more games. Every game is essential now, so yeah, man, back to work. Keep the main thing the main thing. We've got a tough opponent this week."
